The EQUIS Lab performs research in the design and devlopment of next-generation digital games. Our current focus is on exergames - games that combine entertainment with physical activity.
We have developed the Liberi game that brings physical activity and social connection to children with cerebral palsy. We have investigated how to encourage players to increase their exertion through heart rate power-ups and how to avoid over-exertion through nudges. We have developed a toolkit allowing conversion of off-the-shelf games such as Skyrim and Half-Life 2 into exergames.
