Biography
Hossam S. Hassanein is a Professor and the Director of the School of Computing. Dr. Hassanein received his Electrical Engineering B.Sc. from Kuwait University in 1984, an M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto in 1986, and his Ph.D. in Computing Science from the University of Alberta in 1990. He joined Queen's University School of Computing in 1999. Dr. Hassanein is the Telecommunications Research Lab (TRL) founder and director. TRL is a lab with extensive international academic and industrial collaborations. Dr. Hassanein has co-written with students and colleagues over 600 articles in top-tier journals, in proceedings of flagship conferences, three books, and several book chapters. Dr. Hassanein has received a number of recognitions and best paper awards from top international conferences. His research interests include edge computing and services, wireless, and mobile network architectures and protocols, radio resource management, the Internet of Things, and data-centric networks. Dr. Hassanein is a Fellow of the IEEE and past chair of the IEEE Communication Society Technical Committee on Ad hoc and Sensor Networks. In 2015, Dr. Hassanein received the Queen's University School of Graduate Studies Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Supervision.
